Our client, a growing technology start up, is seeking a solid Network/Systems administrator to support their busy Production environment and data centers.
The ideal candidate will posses strong Linux; load balancing and firewall (checkpoint) administration expertise. Someone who understands how an operations organization managing a customer facing service needs to be set up (ie SaaS environment) both from an architecture/technical standpoint, to providing guidance to a start-up of engineers, as well as from a process standpoint to help define the culture of best practices (change control, documentation, etc.) would be ideal.
We’re looking for a Sr. Systems Administrator to install, support, and maintain the production, staging, development, and office environments as well as provide input into the software development process for infrastructure and operations. You will be specifically responsible for supporting and maintaining the networking and server infrastructure in our data center and development environments. This includes management of our networking infrastructure (firewall/loadbalancers/switches) as well as the installation of software applications onto the bare-metal systems and providing first-tier support and troubleshooting for the XXX service.

To hit the ground running, you will be a self motivated, fast learner who loves getting his/her hands dirty, and has exceptional troubleshooting skills and methodologies. You are also very good at communicating and documenting processes and procedures, as well as “steps or actions taken” to troubleshoot an issue. You will also be participating in a rotating 24/7 on-call support schedule.

Experience
Experience with the following hardware technologies: Checkpoint, Force 10 Networks, Citrix Netscaler, A10 Networks, Dell & Sun server technologies.
2-3 years of network administration experience including monitoring, troubleshooting and tuning of routers, firewalls, switches, load balancers and VPN technologies
Must have 5+ years of systems administration experience on Linux/Unix servers in a 24x7 environment.
Must have 5+ years of experience with Unix shell scripts, PERL, python, and similar languages. Must be able to demonstrate strong scripting skills at interview.
Must have experience supporting a corporate environment using Windows.
Must have experience supporting and implementing a large (100+ servers), scalable, highly-available web and storage production infrastructure.
Experience with the following software technologies: Clustered Web/Application servers, configuring and tuning CentOS/RedHat Linux, Apache, Tomcat, MySQL (backup/restore/replication/recovery).
Experience with monitoring solutions (Nagios, Cacti)
Experience with MySQL configuration, backup, and storage operational procedures
Comfortable working in a startup environment.
Willing to participate with 24x7 on-call operations
Able to lift PCs, servers, network hardware, etc. (up to 50 pounds); must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Experience in data center build outs
